Rules

Entry registration closes 2/28/2023. No changes to your entries will be accepted after this date.

....And we're back! Thank you for your patience. After some unforeseen circumstances caused us to postpone the 25th Cascade Brewers Cup from September 2022, we are rescheduled for March 24-26, 2023.

Go big or go home. We're shooting for 500 total entries -- beer only, we're not accepting mead or cider this year. There will be a max of 10 entries per brewer, and only one entry per style subcategory. So multiple amber malty European lagers are OK, but only one Marzen, Rauchbier, etc.

We already have some phenomenal prizes that have been donated and are expecting more to come.

1st Place BOS KOMOS Triple Tap Kegerator

2nd Place BOS Spike CF5 Conical donated by Micro Homebrew

3rd Place BOS Spike Flex Fermenter donated by Spike Brewing

Additionally, all category winners will receive a 50-lb bag of malt from Skagit Valley Malting.

If you are unable to attend the awards ceremony, any medals earned and your scoresheets will be mailed to the address you provide at registration. The best of show prizes can be drop-shipped if the winner is outside the greater Seattle area and unable to coordinate a pick-up. Note: To receive the Skagit Valley Malt prizes, the category winners MUST either pick them up at the awards ceremony OR pick them up at Micro Homebrew. We will not ship the bags of malt.

======================

This competition is AHA and BJCP sanctioned and open to any amateur homebrewer age 21 or older. The competition will be judged using the 2015 BJCP Style guidelines.

All mailed entries must be received at the mailing location by the shipping deadline - please allow for shipping time.

All entries will be picked up from drop-off locations the day of the drop-off deadline.

All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or Brew on Premises operations, supplies, etc.).

The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries, mailed entries that are not received by the entry deadline, or entries that arrived damaged.

The competition organizers reserve the right to combine overall style categories based on number of entries for judging, and to restructure awards as needed depending upon the quantity and quality of entries. All possible effort will be made to combine similar styles. All brews in combined categories will be judged according to the style they were originally entered in.

Qualified judging of all entries is the primary goal of our event. Judges will evaluate and score each entry. The average of the scores will rank each entry in its category. Each flight will have at least one BJCP judge.

Brewers are not limited to one entry in each category but may only enter each subcategory once. Maximum entries per brewer is limited to five (5).

The Best of Show judging will be determined by a Best of Show panel based on a second judging of the top winners.

Bottles will not be returned to entrants.

Best of Show

In addition to medals in each category, the winning entry from each category will proceed to the competition Best of Show round. There will be gold, silver, and bronze medals awarded for Best of Show.

We are exploring the potential of a Pro-Am component. In the event we secure a commitment from a local brewery, all best of Show candidates will be eligible to be selected to be brewed on a commercial system. The sponsor brewery will have full discretion to choose a winner from the available Best of Show candidates. The selected entries may not necessarily be Best of Show medal winners. In the event the brewer selected for the Pro-Am does not live in the greater Puget Sound area, s/he will be responsible for transportation / lodging if s/he wishes to participate in the brew day. Neither the Cascade Brewers Guild nor the participating brewery will reimburse for any travel-related expenses incurred.
