UPDATE March 16, 2020: Postponed
The organizers of the 24th Annual Cascade Brewers Cup have made the decision to postpone the competition. Given the new rules and guidance from the CDC, and Governor Inslee, and local public health organizations we feel that postponing the competition is the right thing to do at this time. Our first concern is the safely and health of our members, volunteers, sponsors, and partners. It's become clear that we are unable to host the competition on the planned dates while still honoring the safety of the many people in involved.
Competition organizers are working with WAHA and our sponsors to reschedule the competition for later this year. We don't know exactly when that will be at this time. We're hopeful that it will be soon and will keep you updated.
If you have already paid for your entries and would like a refund, please contact us using the form on the competition web site. If you still plan on entering beers whenever we are able to judge them, no action is needed on your part.
UPDATE March 15, 2020: COVID-19
Greetings all. We've received a number of inquiries as to whether or not the competition will still take place given the current global and local pandemic. As of right now, we have not made a decision either way. Competition coordinators are working closely with the Washington Homebrewers Assoc. (WAHA) and are reassessing the situation continuously. If a decision is made to reschedule or cancel the competition that decision will be made before the April 1 entry drop-off window opens and entrants will be notified. Please do not ship entries prior to the this date as shipped entries will not be returned even if the event is canceled.
Stay safe, wash your hands, and RDWHAHB.
This competition is AHA and BJCP sanctioned and open to any amateur homebrewer age 21 or older.
All mailed entries must be received at the mailing location by the shipping deadline - please allow for shipping time.
All entries will be picked up from drop-off locations the day of the drop-off deadline.
All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or Brew on Premises operations, supplies, etc.).
The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries, mailed entries that are not received by the entry deadline, or entries that arrived damaged.
The competition organizers reserve the right to combine styles for judging and to restructure awards as needed depending upon the quantity and quality of entries.
Qualified judging of all entries is the primary goal of our event. Judges will evaluate and score each entry. The average of the scores will rank each entry in its category. Each flight will have at least one BJCP judge.
Brewers are not limited to one entry in each category but may only enter each subcategory once.
The competition committee reserves the right to combine overall style categories based on number of entries. All possible effort will be made to combine similar styles. All brews in combined categories will be judged according to the style they were originally entered in.
The Best of Show judging will be determined by a Best of Show panel based on a second judging of the top winners.
Bottles will not be returned to entrants.
